Craig: June 11, 1973

Caroline: March 6, 1973

Both: South African (but Australian in training).

Craig: Attended primary school in the UK. Started high school in the UK but moved to South Africa during second year. In South Africa, I attended Wordsworth High School in Benoni, and then Benoni Technical College where I obtained a N5 qualification. After college I obtained my MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer) twice while working for Microsoft and passed a total of fifteen industry recognised Microsoft courses.  I have passed the theory portion of a game ranging qualification as well as wildlife management, and numerous other nature related courses.  These days I concentrate on nature, sustainability and photography, learning by experience.  I am also studying a computer programming language, Objective-C.

Caroline: I attended Atholton Primary School in Umhlanga and later attended Danville High School where I became Dux. I currently hold a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Natal, Durban. Since then, I have also obtained a Game Ranging qualification through Wildlife Campus as well as studying Wildlife Management and Photography.

Craig: Study leave.

Both: We were married on November 6, 1996!

Both: Back in the days before the Internet became mainstream, there was a similar concept called BBS, or bulletin board systems. We were both members of Le Club BBS, had chatted online and met at a get together at a pub in Pretoria. It wasn’t long after that (five weeks actually) that we were engaged, and two years later we were married.

Both: We have three cats Timtam, Mumble & Misu.

Both: We are currently very interested in nature, wildlife, asian food and cooking, movies and music, photography, and sustainable existence amongst other things.

Both: These days we’re both very interested in vocal, melodic and uplifting trance.  This was a gradual evolution from 80′s pop, rock, 90′s pop, slightly more upbeat gym music and then to trance.  Craig used to like 90′s techno and so probably influenced Caroline a bit, although it is debatable as to whether either of us would, or should own up to that!  We like a lot of Armin van Buuren  and Above & Beyond, but our iTunes all time top 10, by play count says that the following are our most played artists: Ferry Corsten, Moby, Above & Beyond, Ivy, BT, Coldplay, Kelly Clarkson, Deep Dish, Howie Day & Junkie XL.  To be honest we’re suprised that Armin isn’t in there, but this top 10 might be severely skewed by years and years of listening to other stuff…

Both: Austin Powers, Chicken Run, Wallace & Gromit (and in fact, most if not all of the Aardman stuff), The Matrix Trilogy, An Inconvenient Truth (not so much from a movie point of view, but from a sheer importance point of view).

Craig: Stargate (SG-1 and Atlantis), Dharma & Greg, Frasier, Knight Rider, Family Ties, Cheers and I even liked Dallas (yes, I know!).

Caroline: Twin Peaks.

Both: 3rd Rock From The Sun, Friends, The Simpsons, Star Trek, The X-Files, CSI (all of them, but preferentially Las Vegas, New York, Miami), Mythbusters, Futurama, Big Cat Diary, Grey’s Anatomy, Desparate Housewives, Eureka.

Craig: John Seymour’s “The New Complete Book of Self-Sufficiency”.

Caroline: A book about Google.

Both: Nelson Mandela for his role in South Africa’s reformation, as well as anyone who has had a major role in nature conservation.

Craig: Corruption, inconsiderate people (specifically inconsiderate smokers and inconsiderate drivers), rudeness, cruelty to animals, the inappropriate use of the font Comic Sans (and similar kiddie type fonts – they just don’t work in a professional setting).

Caroline: Noise. Inconsiderate people. Cruelty to animals.

Both: Sushi, but also generally all Asian food, grilled calamari, fillet steak (Mmmm, drooool), prawns.

Craig: Coffee, Tea, Kahlua, Passion Fruit & Lemonade, Lemon Lime & Bitters.

Caroline: Coffee, Cola Tonic & Lemonade, Lemon Lime & Bitters.

Craig: I like all animals, but I particularly like the cats, big and small, especially the Cheetah.

Caroline: Wild Dog & Leopard.

Craig: I’m not very big on sports but I enjoy Cricket.

Caroline: Cricket.

Both: We no longer own a car and rely on Sydney’s excellent public transport.  When we do need a car we use GoGet, a car share scheme.
